78 Year Old pensioner arrested for alleged murdering armed robber in his house
|
Bloke was forced into his kitchen by two blokes one armed with a screwdriver and fought back. Looks like fair play to me. He is 78 for fucks sake.

Really the locals should be out in force to scare the pikeys off. They aren't a race. They're a criminal underclass, and no one should have to take their shit. If they want to build a memorial, it should be where he lived, not his victim.

Are they genuine travellers (Romany) or simply tax-evading, benefit maxing, soap-dodging bog-trotters?

They've been back today, putting up loads of shit outside the old boys house. With a police escort.
How the fuck can this be allowed given its clear intimidation.

I suspect this just their way of saying, 'we know where you live'.
That is so true. The Traveller site that Vincent is from is about 10 miles from Hither Green. If the people laying flowers were only interested in paying their respects, they would make a shrine in the Star Lane site. They are laying their wreathes and tributes in Hither Green to have a pop at Richard Osborn-Brooks and his neighbours. Radhika Sanghani is as thick as fucking pigshit if she truly believes what she wrote in that ridiculous article.

I suspect this just their way of saying, 'we know where you live'. Naturally, the police are siding with the 'traveller community' over this.

I think a few of the local people MIGHT just about tolerate it if it had just been a few very simple cards and flowers. And for a day or two at most. Unfortunately that's not the Pikey way.
The problem with their floral tributes / graves etc is they are only happy if they are way over the top.
The local cemetery Pikey section is hilarious in it's flamboyant levels of bad taste. They all try to out do each other.
One massive gravestone with a model truck on it is engraved with his initials and the epitaph SIMPLY THE BEST
Classy.

I'm surprised nobody has noticed this piece of mentalist nonsense by Radhika Sanghani, published in the Telegraph of all places. She has form for this sort of thing, last year she complained that air-conditioning was sexist.
'When flowers are laid as a tribute on the side of the road, most people walk quietly by. They continue with their day, occasionally pausing to think about the fragility of life or even remember their own loved ones, or simply hurry past, so engrossed in their own worlds that they barely even notice the tributes. What they don’t do is tear the flowers down in fury - or at least they didn’t, until the death of 37-year-old Henry Vincent.
Vincent’s death during a burglary at the home of Richard Osborn-Brooks, 78, in London’s Hither Green has dominated headlines now for the past week. Osborn-Brooks stabbed the intruder and was initially arrested on suspicion of murder, only to be later released without charge.
It has been a stressful and tragic situation for all involved - for the terrified Osborn-Brooks, but also for the family of Vincent. The news has sparked debate about police resources and the right to defend one's home, but tensions reached their peak when Vincent’s loved ones placed flowers at the site of his death as a tribute.
The end of a life is a moment to be treated with reverence, whatever the sins of the past Neighbours quickly tore down the floral and balloon tributes - which they viewed as an “insult” and an act of aggression towards Osborn-Brooks. Vincent’s deeply offended relatives have complained he is being painted as a "monster", but residents on the street have expressed disgust at the tributes. "If it is a normal person it is different - it could have been my house [that was burgled]," neighbour Saverimuthu Augustine, 78, has said.
His words sum up the exact problem with those against the floral tributes. He does not view Vincent as a “normal person” and thus does not believe he has the right to be remembered like one.
Neighbour Iain Gordon taking down flowers laid for Henry Vincent Neighbour Iain Gordon taking down flowers laid for Henry Vincent CREDIT: PAUL GROVER Vincent may have a criminal past - and indeed no one denies that he was in the very process of committing a crime when he was killed - but he was still a human being with friends and family. It would be wrong to deprive them the right to mourn him, in the same way that Augustine, or Osborn-Brooks, will undoubtedly be mourned by their own loved ones when that time comes.
Local police have stressed this very point. Lewisham Borough commander and Chief Superintendent Simon Dobinson has said: “We would urge members of the public to respect the wishes of those who choose to place flowers and other tributes in the area.”
The end of a life is a moment to be treated with reverence, whatever the sins of the past. We pause, and fall silent for a stranger's passing funeral car, and talk about not ‘dancing on someone’s grave’. As the saying goes, we are all equal in death, and Henry Vincent's shrine should be left in peace.

Don't even bother locking my back door at night or when we are out. 7 stone Rotty bowling around downstairs whose a bit touchy about strangers coming in takes care of that. Even amuses me to think of someone trying to get in here at night

Burglars will take your valued possessions and sell them for drug money for a day or two. They all get caught eventually and finish up doing bird. They are then released and the cycle starts again. They are all utter scum and should be isolated from the rest of society on an island somewhere. They contribute fuck all to society.

Don't wish to depress anyone but burglaries have pretty low success rates when it comes to prosecutions. Not only that, but the thief himself will (as long as he's not a persistent / violent offender) do possibly do 6 months of a maximum 12 month stretch.
"Householder cases" (as I think they're know in legal circles) generate fairly low income for barristers, briefs etc, so will be in a lot of cases farmed out to young and experienced lawyers.
On the upside, if there is such a thing, the law is designed to recognise that as a householder cannot make weighty judgements about their reactions when they believe they, or their loved ones are in danger and it's up to a prosecutor to prove that the force used was "grossly inappropriate" if it even comes to that.

My mother in law was burgled in Capel road Forest gate I lived down the same street so I shot down there hoping to catch the bastards. Told the mrs to ring the old bill when I got there they'd scarpered I waited three hours for the old bill to turn up even after I'd said that I thought they were still in the house. When they eventually turned up they said I was the fifth break in that they had that afternoon. This was in 1985 so it was just as shit then as it is now.

The police have said they can only take action if the owner of the fence where all the flowers are (we're) requests them to. She has already said she thinks it's wrong so jus tell the cops then love. Their reaction or inaction will be priceless.
Oh, and as if those pikey cunts don't know where the accomplice is. Probably in caravan number 4

In my student days I was burgled 3 times in about 9 weeks. Fucking horrible feeling.
Moved after #3. Coming home early Saturday morning after a Friday all-nighter I saw front doors open along our new street. Thought "oh fuck", but turns out we were in one of few areas where people left their doors open to enable neighbours to come in. Also saw people scrubbing the front door steps outside a number of the terraced houses. Good, honest working class area where miscreants simply weren't tolerated. A kid misbehaved and their parents or grandparents would belt them one.
As good-for-nothing, pisshead students (living in one of only a handful of student places on that street or the next) we actually moderated our behaviour also.
Actually had a few good nights out with some of the local neighbours (and Geordies drinking with students wasn't exactly a common occurrence)

My parent's house is secluded in the arse end of nowhere.
They have been done three times in a decade now.
Perpetrators knew their regular movements.
99% sure it was do as you likeys.
Cameras installed now.
Dad rushed home from pub the last time after seeing them his phone. Luckily they'd buggered off before he got back.
. My brother fantasizes about catching them in the house and burying them in the woods.
